At the moment I'm freelancing for a variety of custom publishers and environmental organisations. But before that, my corporate life included:

TerraCycle, Inc

Global Head of Content

August 2021 - March 2022

  • Created and implemented the company's first global content strategy covering all external channels, as well as a corporate style guide.

  • Advised C-suite on content-driven responses to global issues.

  • Built and led a team of copywriters.

TerraCycle Australia & New Zealand

Head of Marketing & Communication

November 2019 - August 2021

  • Devised a marketing and communication strategy that both built TerraCycle's brand and supported revenue objectives.

  • Led a team of eight covering PR and media relations, marketing, digital, and customer service to achieve those goals.

  • Worked closely with the global heads of marketing and communication to ensure consistency and efficiency in all forms of communication.

Australian Community Media

Senior Journalist - Group content

June 2019 - November 2019

  • Unlocked the revenue and resourcing potential of existing content by instigating a process to create more awareness and access for sales teams and newsrooms.

  • Created a new suite of online and print lifestyle content to attract revenue and assist newsrooms engage readers.

  • Led a national team of 28 journalists who produce features and magazines for Nine’s Australian Community Media (ACM), through a period of unrest and stretched resources.

  • Content lead for two projects that made the finals in two categories at the International News Media Awards 2019.

  • Created content solutions for advertisers and produce magazines and features to attract revenue.

  • Led the NSW team of six.

And going back even further

I started working in the communication industry in 1988 after gaining a BA (Comm).

During first decade of my career I worked in PR, external and internal communication roles, in agencies and corporate. This included five years as head of the writing and strategy team in the marketing communication department of Macquarie Investment Management.

During this time I also gained a MA in Communication Management.

During the 2000s I developed Word Jeneration to offer communication services including strategy, writing and editing. Major clients included The Bradman Foundation, RSPCA NSW (with whom I worked full time for a couple of years) and Fairfax Media (who I also ended up working for full time - see above).
